Dear Editor:
           For quite some time,road accidents have been on the increase.They are a great threat to life and property.The Government should take effective steps to guard against them.
              The main cause of the accidents is fast and rash driving.The buses belonging to rival companies begin races on the road.The drivers overtake and re-overtake one another on narrow roads and risky corners.This leads to dangerous driving resulting,sometimes,in disaster.
              The police should be taken against the defaulters.The licenses of the drivers exceeding the speed-limit should be canceled forthwith.The company whose drivers too often neglect the laws should be warned.If warning proves ineffective.its route-permit should be canceled.
               The passengers should be requested though the press,the television and radio to cooperate with the Government.They should refuse to continue their journey in a bus not observing the traffic rules.
