Sir, 
Though I do agree with a majority of points as stated by Lord Sacks, I must cede that his comments gave a whiff of social negligence. As a sixteen year old, scores of members of my age group possess the "i,i,i," "Holy Trinity" of Apple products. If anything, the enthusiasm and common values that accrue are ones that facilitate communication. The "consumer society" he excoriates has been evolving unstoppably since the latter part of the 19th century, and so it's not apposite for him to use our generation as a scapegoat. If Chief Rabbi Sacks wishes to forge a better environment, then a good start would be to approach the society around him convivially, not with hostility.
